ROONEY FOR THIAGO DEAL?
Barcelona’s star young midfielder
Thiago Alcantara has been
strongly linked with a summer
move to David Moyes led
Manchester United this summer.
Reports in Spain suggest that the
Catalans are plotting a swap deal
with United, involving Wayne
Rooney as a part of the bargain.
Manchester United are
understood to be closing in on a
deal for Thiago, who is on Moyes’
wish list for the summer,
following his spectacular
performance in the EuropeanU21
Championship recently. Thiago
has a couple of years left on his
contract with the Spanish giants
and is available for a reduced
figure of 18million euros until
the end of July, after which his
price will shoot back to 90million
euros.
United are looking to seize this
opportunity and a swap deal
could well be in picture if the
club giants agree to the terms.
United could allow Rooney to
move to the Nou Camp for the
22-year-old Thiago plus a bid of
£10m.
Although, it has been suggested
that Rooney could make it work
with Moyes in the coming days,
the prospects of his club exit are
nonetheless high. Mundo
Deportivo, Barcelona-based
sports paper, suggest that the La
Liga winners are tracking
Rooney and considering making
a move for him.
