World Cup: Spain's Fernando Torres has score to settle next year in Brazil
Fernando Torres has vowed
Spain will return to Brazil in one
year's time to win the World
Cup after their Confederations
Cup reality check.
The reigning world and two-time
European champions were
humbled 3-0 by Brazil at the
weekend in the Rio de Janeiro
final to end their 29-match
unbeaten run in competitive
internationals.
Spain will therefore be back in
South America next summer to
defend their World Cup title and
they will have a score to settle.
"You can't win every time," said
Spain and Chelsea striker Torres.
"That said, in one year's time, we
will be back here as world
champions to defend what's
ours.
"Next year we're coming over
here to make it four [World Cups
and European Championships]."
But Torres does not think Spain
will be purely looking to set the
record straight against Brazil if
they again meet the World Cup
hosts.
"Football is great for that,
because you always get another
chance," he said when asked
about a possible revenge
mission.
"One year from now, hopefully
we'll be here and have a chance
to make up for today [Sunday],
not necessarily to gain revenge
on Brazil, but for our own sake."
