Wayne Rooney not planning Man Utd transfer request

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney has no plans to force a move to Chelsea by handing in a transfer request.

On Monday, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho gave the 27-year-old 48 hours to decide whether he wants to join the Blues.

Chelsea have already made two unsuccessful bids for Rooney.

But the striker, who has indicated he wants to leave Old Trafford, has now been reintegrated into the United squad and started the 0-0 Premier League draw against Chelsea on Monday.

Despite the fact that Rooney does not plan to submit a formal transfer request, it is understood a number of issues regarding his playing role at Old Trafford remain unresolved.

Mourinho, however, is not prepared to wait too long for the England forward to make a decision on his future, with the transfer window shutting at 2300 BST on Monday.

The Portuguese has already hinted he will target other players if Rooney decides to remain at United.
"One way or another, he has to say 'I want to leave' or 'I want to stay'," said Mourinho after Monday's game.

"The person that started the story has to finish the story. For the good of everyone, it is time to finish the story."

United have consistently said that Rooney is not for sale, while Manchester United manager David Moyes has insisted all summer that the player will not be leaving Old Trafford.
"I think Wayne has a positive mind at the moment, I don't think he needs to change," Moyes said on Monday. "I think his performance said enough. I think his actions showed what he thought."
Rooney has threatened to quit United in the past, only to change his mind.
