Orlando Pirates striker Lennox Bacela says his call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad came as a massive – but very welcome – surprise.
The 30-year-old was one of nine Buccaneers included in the squad today for the international friendly against Swaziland on November 15, capping a great season so far which has seen him find the back of the net on a regular basis.
Bacela tells KickOff.com the news of his selection by Gordon Igesund was a big surprise.
“I never expected it as my concentration has been with Orlando Pirates,” he says. “We have been playing crucial games the whole time, so I never ever thought of anything outside of Orlando Pirates.”
Bacela adds: “I am excited with this opportunity and looking forward to the game.”
