Begovic happy to score, but feels sorry for opposite number

Stoke City's Asmir Begovic, right, scored against Southampton in the Premier League at the Britannia
It was a special day for Stoke Citykeeper Asmir Begovic on Saturday as he became the fifth goalkeeper in the Premier League to get on the score sheet.
Stoke lined up against Southampton at the Britannia Stadium this weekend, with the Potters looking to get out of the relegation zone.
Begovic, however, only needed 14 seconds to score his first ever goal for the club as the ball bounced over Artur Boruc from a long range clearance.
Most goalkeepers would be very pleased with scoring from open play, but Begovic insisted that the rough weather conditions and wind helped him score.
He said, as reported by ESPN: “It’s a cool feeling but it is a fortunate incident. I feel bad for Artur Boruc when that happens but it’s a good point for us.”
The Bosnia-Herzegovina keeper told the broadcaster that he did not want to celebrate against his opposing number largely due to mutual respect and the feeling of having to concede a goal in such a manner.
Respectful
He added: “Hopefully we can keep the confidence going.
“It does not make a goalkeeper look good and after it I did not want to celebrate against him. Hopefully I can get a couple more.”
Begovic, who was targeted by Manchester United last season, the broadcaster claims, was hopeful about adding a few more goals to his tally, but insisted that the draw was more vital than him scoring.
Boruc was also quick to apologize to his team-mates and the fans and said that he would “bounce back” after his blunder.
Despite a rather poor choice of words, Boruc stated that he would help his club retrieve the two points lost in the coming games.
He was reported by the broadcaster as saying: “I blame the wind for that. I’m really sorry for my team-mates and our supporters but what can I say?
“What happens, happens and I need to bounce back. I promise to get those two points back.”
