Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes the Reds have a "fighting chance" of securing a top-four finish this season

Brendan Rodgers believes Liverpool have a “fighting chance” of securing a top-four finish despite a 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Saturday.

The Premier League leaders moved five points clear of the Reds, who were relegated to third following the defeat, courtesy of goals from Santi Cazorlaand Aaron Ramsey either side of half-time.
Liverpool manager Rodgers wants the Merseyside outfit to learn from their mistakes at Emirates Stadium, but still managed to praise his squad for their “brilliant” start to the season.
“I said after 10 games, we can look at the league and see where we’re at,” Rodgers told Sky Sports.
“What we can see is that my players have been brilliant in this opening period. We’re going to be in with a shout [of a top-four finish].
“We understand the competition is great with the teams that are operating at the level that they have been over the last couple of years – as well as the squads that they have.
“But for us, we’ve shown that we can be in with a fighting chance for the top four – and that’s something we’ll be aiming to do.
“We’re in the top four and we’ve just got to put this game to bed and learn from it.”
