Leonardo blames ´unfair´ ban for PSG departure

Former PSG sporting director Leonardo claims that his 13-month ban for pushing a referee forced him out of the club.
The Brazilian resigned from the Ligue 1 champions last month after being handed the punishment following an altercation with Alexandre Castro in the 1-1 draw with Valenciennes in May.
Under the terms of his ban, the 43-year-old would not have been allowed on the touchline or in the match officials' area, and he believes that punishment was unjust.
"I find it unfair," he told L'Equipe. "It was impossible to continue to do my job at Paris because the suspension does not allow me to do it 100 per cent.
"I was primarily responsible for the PSG project, I was very involved with the players, coaches. But it all became too complicated with this suspension."
Leonardo officially left the Ligue 1 champions in July, but he still remains close to the club and believes that they have a bright future with some of the best attacking players in the world.
PSG have signed Edinson Cavani during the close-season and the former Brazil international is excited to see him team up with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
"Having the top scorer in Serie A, Cavani, and the top scorer in Ligue 1, Ibrahimovic, in the same team is amazing," he added. "Especially when you add them around players like Lucas (Moura), (Javier) Pastore, (Jeremy) Menez and (Ezequiel) Lavezzi.
"PSG has the best attack in the world with these six elements."
