AC Milan striker Alessandro Matri is determined to beat Celtic on Wednesday as he aims to give the injured Kaka a much-needed morale boost. The attacking midfielder, who returned to Milan this summer
after four years at Real Madrid, will be out of action for up to four weeks due to a hamstring problem and Matri is determined to give the Brazilian something to cheer in their Champions League opener.
"I send my best wishes to Kaka. He's a great player and extremely important for our team," the attacker said at a press conference.
"We’ll try and win this game for him and the other players out injured."
Matri last met Celtic with Juventus in last year's edition of the Champions League, when he netted twice in the Serie A champions' 5-0 aggregate win in the round of 16, and the Italian is keen to see history repeated.
"I have a good history with Celtic. I hope history repeats itself and we get the three points," he added.
"They’re a strong team that have been playing together for a long time. We’ll have to play our own game and with the help of the fans we want to get started in the best way we can."
Wednesday's match is scheduled to kick off at San Siro at 20:45CET.
