Kotoko 3-0 Medeama: Porcupine Warriors win Ghana Super Cup

The league champions have won their first title ahead of the new season to revenge a 1-0 defeat in the FA Cup final against the Mauves and Yellows last term.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have cemented their supremacy in Ghana football after walloping Medeama 3-0 in the Super Cup on Sunday.

Kotoko, who won the 2012-13 season of the Ghana Premier League, faced off with the FA Cup holders at the Baba Yara Stadium to raise the curtain for the new season that kicks off next Sunday, September 15.

The Porcupine Warriors finished off the first half with a two-goal lead. Seidu Bancey and Abeiku Ainooson got their names on the score sheet to put the Kumasi-based club in the lead.

It was a bad first day at the office for Medeama coach Hans Van der Plyum, who could have used the occasion to prove their authority over the 22-time league champions after a 1-0 win in the FA Cup final.

Yahaya Mohammed, who was on a season-long loan at Amidaus last term, gave Kotoko a comfortable win with a third goal that was the final nail on the coffin to put the Porcupine Warriors on a sounding footing ahead of the new Premier League calendar.
