Experienced German trainer Klaus Toppmöller who is linked with the Ghana job has been spotted at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra, Accra-based Oman FM has reported.
The 62-year-old former Bayer Leverkusen manager held talks with unnamed officials on Tuesday night at the posh hotel in Accra ahead of his reported imminent appointment as Black Stars technical.
Reports incensed in the local media claim the Ghana Football Association will hire the German tactician to head the Black Stars’ technical team if the West African giants qualify for the 2014 World Cup next summer.
But the Ghana FA has dismissed the reports insisting Kwesi Appiah still remains head coach of the Black Stars.
And GFA Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has insisted the GFA did not invite Toppmuller to Ghana.
“Maybe it is one of the Division One sides in Ghana who want to employ him but certainly not the Ghana Football Association. Kwesi Appiah still remains in charge of the team,” he told Accra-based Asempa FM.
However, he declared that should Kwesi Appiah request for assistance ahead of the 2014 Mundial, the GFA will come to his aid.
“However if Kwesi Appiah request for any technical support in terms of scouting and other areas we will support him,” he added.
Toppmuller last managed Georgia in 2008.
