luis suarezThe Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said admitted that his side did not handle the proposed transfer of Luis Suarez well, according to express.
The Gunners placed a bid of £40million and one pound thinking that it would activate a clause in the player’s contract.
This however did not prove effective and was found laughable on the Liverpool side, the reds owner took to twitter and wrote: “What do you think they are smoking over there at the Emirates?”
Fair relations
Wenger spoke on the subject: “It was not the most subtle thing we have done
“We don’t smoke, but relations (between the clubs) are good. We kept in touch over that period. I know only one side but we always had fair relations with Liverpool.
“I don’t want to dwell more on that situation. It was one of the transfers that did not work and in every club you have two or three. He is a professional, he plays there, he is paid by Liverpool and that is it.”
Cancer
In this transfer dealing Liverpool took the approach of no nonsense, Brendan Rodgers believes that this was a great idea and that it stopped Liverpool’s whole season being about whether or not Suarez would leave.
“I’m sure the senior players, indeed all the players, are looking to the manager in a situation like that to see what happens.” Rodgers said.
“It cannot fester and be allowed to become a cancer within the group.”
