The fastest goalkeeper goals before Asmir Begovic were… [video evidence]

BYE J6gCYAAqZwV The fastest goalkeeper goals before Asmir Begovic were... [video evidence]
Asmir Begovic became only the fifth goalkeeper to score in the Premier League on Saturday and as you will no doubt hear for many years to come, it was notched in 12 seconds (!) for Stoke versus Southampton.
The statistics surrounding Begovic’s goal are pretty startling, not least the fact that the Stoke custodian is now a join top goal scorer for the Potters in the Premier League this season.
It also caused statisticians to look up who scored the quickest goalkeeper goals before Begovic and we have a couple to add into the mix.
Nottingham Forest keeper Paul Smith was “allowed” to score straight from kick off against Leicester in the Carling Cup 2nd round of 2007.
The first match between the Midlands rivals had been abandoned due to a serious injury with Forest leading 1-0.
As a result, Leicester allowed the opposition keeper to score to level things up but Nottingham Forest would still go on to lose the tie 3-2.
See Paul Smith’s goalkeeper goal on the first video below.
The other fastest keeper goal was thought to be on the second video – allegedly confirmed by Guinness but details remain sketchy.
It does though take a little longer than Begovic’s to arrive in the opposition goal…
