Essien captains Chelsea to victory in first appearance

Ghanaian international Michael Essien finally made his first appearance of the season as he captained Chelsea to a victory against Swindon in the Capital One Cup.

Essien had yet to feature in any game for the Blues this season after returning on loan from Real Madrid. The quality of opposition ensured that Jose Mourinho had no qualms about starting the 30-year old.

The game finished 0-2  in favour of Chelsea, and Essien would hope he gave Mourinho enough reason to feature him in upcoming games.
