Berekum Chelsea have permitted experienced midfielder Jordan Opoku to
re-join Asante Kotoko on Wednesday after reaching an agreement with
league champions Asante Kotoko.
The 27-year old who is a former captain of the porcupine warriors
after a successful medical and would put pen to paper to a two-year
contract which will earn him GHc30,000. However, it is unclear the
transfer fee involved as Kotoko were as at the past weekend, trying to
beat down the GHc70,000 price tag placed by the Berekum Club.
In confirming the news, the former Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord trainee
tells footyGhana; “I received a call this morning from my chairman Nana
Kwame Nketia [Berekum Chelsea] that an agreement has been reached with
Kotoko so I’m permitted to go to Kumasi. It feels great to have this
sorted; I will be joining Kotoko on Wednesday for my medicals.”
Opoku signed for Berekum Chelsea as a free agent after returning from
a loan spell in Albania and registered in the second half of the
2011/12 season for the Blues after a two-year stint with the porcupine
warriors. His departure was as a result of misunderstanding in contract
extension demands.
