Gary Hooper: On the road to recovery
Norwich have received a boost with the news that the injury to new striker Gary Hooper is not as serious as was first feared.
The
25-year-old arrived from Celtic over the summer in a deal thought to be
worth around £6m - and Canaries fans have faced an anxious wait after
he was stretchered off during the final pre-season friendly against
Panathinaikos. It was initially feared Hooper had suffered a fracture, but Norwich manager Chris Hughton was pleased to announce that scans to the striker's knee and shin came back clear.
Hughton told the club's official website: "Both the X-ray and the scan are fine and confirm there is no fracture or any other problem which might indicate a long-term injury.
"There is still some bruising Gary suffered from the knock and he will continue to be monitored and assessed over the days ahead."
Norwich open their Premier League campaign against Everton at Carrow Road on Saturday.
