Robin van Persie wants unsettled Manchester United team-mate Wayne
Rooney to continue his football at Old Trafford amid speculations the
Englishman wants a move to Chelsea after nine years with the Premier
League Champions.
RVP who joined Manchester United at the beginning of last season kept
Rooney out of the United squad most of the time with his goal scoring
form ending the campaign with 30 goals for the Red Devils.
The Dutchman told The Sun:
“Everyone wants Wayne to stay and deep down I think he feels the
same. One of the reasons I joined Manchester United was to play with
Wayne.
“I hope he stays. Not only is he a great goalscorer, he does so much
work across the pitch. He hates to lose and that’s why you see him one
minute pressing for goal, the next minute defending ferociously. He is
an asset to any team.
“He will come good again. He is a strong lad.”
Wayne Rooney, Luis Nani and Ashley Young have been ruled out for
Manchester United’s Community Shield game against Wigan Athletic.
