West Brom ‘freeze’ loan move for Jordan Ayew

English side West Bromwich Albion's interest in signing Marseille’s Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew on a season long loan is on hold, French tabloid L’Equipe has reported.

According to the French newspaper,  West Brom manager Steven Clarke will be putting talks over Jordan Ayew on the backburner for some time after it emerged that the club’s number one goalkeeper Ben Foster will be ruled out for up to three months with a foot injury.

West Brom were looking to bring Marseille pair Jordan Ayew and Morgan Amalfitano to The Hawthorns on loan but per the latest reports, only the latter’s deal could go through.

Nicholas Anelka’s return from a compassionate leave following the recent death of his agent is also said to be one deciding factor in discarding the move for Jordan. The veteran French striker who joined the Baggies on a free transfer this summer was considering retiring from professional football but he has overcome the shock and is set to return to training at the club.

The 21-year-old son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele who is on the fringes of the first-team picture at the Stade Velodrome could still get a Premier League chance as West Ham are said to be interested in a loan deal for him but would have to fight off competition from French side St. Etienne who are reported to have slapped in their bid.
