The 26-year-old joined the League One outfit in August 2012, but his season was curtailed in September when he picked up a calf injury against Sheffield Wednesday.
Boukari has been on trial at Sochaux and now looks set to spend the duration of the 2013-14 campaign in France as he nears full fitness.
"Razak has travelled to France with first-team physiotherapist Carl Howarth to undergo an extended medical," Wolves head of football development and recruitment Kevin Thelwell told the club's official website.
"If that is completed satisfactorily then he will join Sochaux on loan for the season."
Wolves suffered the ignominy of successive relegations after finishing 23rd in the Championship last season.
The club also announced on Monday that goalkeeper Wayne Hennessy has left to join Yeovil Town on a month-long loan deal.
The 26-year-old will cover for first-choice keeper Marek Stech, who
suffered a broken hand during a defeat to Birmingham City on Saturday.
