Wa All Stars on Sunday afternoon held off a
spirited challenge by Inter Allies to win 3-2 in an exciting game in Wa.
The hosts took the lead through Adams Sadiq, but Inter Allies responded
through Prosper Kassim.
Sadiq restored All Stars’ lead but Stephen
Ansah again leveled before Kofi Yeboah scored the winner to leave Inter
Allies without a point after six games.
Gilbert Fiamenyo’s 48th
minute strike was enough to give Hearts of Oak a 1-0 win over Berekum
Chelsea. The burly striker headed home a cross by Owusu Bempah three
minutes after the break and before then, both sides had cancelled each
other out. Berekum Chelsea had the ball in the net late on but it was
correctly disallowed because of a foul on goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy
in the buildup. The win takes Hearts of Oak joint top with arch rivals
Asante Kotoko, who face Hasaacas in Kumasi on Thursday October 17.
Amidaus
Professionals secured a 3-1 win over King Faisal in Tema on Sunday
afternoon. Daniel Gozar gave the hosts the lead, but Suraj Mohammed hit
back for King Faisal. On-loan Asante Kotoko striker Nafiu Iddrisu
restored Amidaus Professionals’ lead, before Daniel Awuni came off the
bench to score his 4th goal of the season to seal all three points for the host.
Dwarfs
suffered a 0-1 reverse at home to Liberty Professionals in Cape Coast.
Michael Appiah struck the game’s only goal with twenty minutes to go, as
the hosts’ good start to the season seems to have petered out.
Emmanuel
Allan scored his second goal in two games as Aduana Stars defeated
Heart of Lions 1-0 in Dormaa. Allan struck midway through the first half
and that proved to be the game’s only goal with Heart of Lions
suffering its first defeat this season.
New
Edubiase United was held to a 1-1 draw by Bechem United in Bekwai on
Sunday afternoon. Midfielder Sakyi Quaye had given the hosts the lead,
but Bechem United struck back through Issah Amadu to level the scores.
The final result has left New Edubiase United head coach Anthony
Commey’s future in some doubt.
Bashir Hayford
led Ashanti Gold to Tarkwa to hold former club Medeama SC to a goalless
draw on Saturday. Try as they did, the MTN FA Cup holders failed to
break down a stubborn Ashanti Gold rear guard. The Miners move to third
with an unbeaten record so far in the Ghana Premier League.
