Barcelona star Lionel Messi has received a boost in his bid to rid accusations of foul-play over image rights income.
Messi and his father Jorge were charged with evading over four million euros worth of taxes between 2007 and 2009.
The pair were accused of filtering image rights income through off-shore accounts.
However, the Barca star received a boost recently when the judge was told by experts from Spain's 'Hacienda' tax authority that Messi didn't manage his own image rights.
According to ESPN, the four-time Ballon d'Or winner is now likely to escape any punishment.
26-year-old Messi has already paid a total of five million euros to cover money that was due for the period under investigation, while earlier this summer, he paid out 10 million euros in taxes due on image rights income.
The news of his likely escape from further prosecution will come as a boost to Messi as he looks to help his Barcelona side retain La Liga.
They went some way to helping that happen on Saturday when they defeated rivals Real Madrid 2-1.
The Argentinian has had his injury problems recently but looks to be over the worst of the issues.
