Van der Pluijm says he resigned due to poor results
Dutch coach Hans Van der Pluijm says a poor opening sequence of results with Medeama SC informed his decision to resign as the club’s head coach.
Van der Pluijm told Takoradi-based Skyy Power FM that expectations were very high, adding that the results were not good enough.
“We lost only once and took five draws and won one. It is not good enough in my opinion and expectations were very high and we couldn’t reach those expectations.”
Van der Pluijm also told Skyy Power FM that he had no problems with Medeama’s hierarchy, adding that after three years of constantly working in football, he intends to spend more time with his family.
“I had no problem whatsoever with the club’s management. I left on a good note. I have been working in football consistently for three years and now I can spend some time with my family, which is important to me.”
Before joining Medeama SC at the start of this season, Van der Pluijm coached Berekum Chelsea, which he led in an African Champions League campaign last year.
The Dutchman has also coached Heart of Lions and at the Gomoa Fetteh Feyernoord Academy
