Five quality wingers Arsenal could sign with £34m Walcott cash

Theo Walcott is being linked with AS Monaco - could Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Dnipro or Marseille provide the answer?

This week has seen one of the more ridiculous or indeed remarkable rumours of the season so far - with reports that AS Monaco were ready to bid a whopping £34 million for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott.

First of all, it doesn’t seem likely, but if it was - Arsenal would have to take it.

That amount of money for anybody is good, but for Walcott - it seems a very generous offer.

So who could they bring in to replace him with that sort of cash?

Here are five options.

Marco Reus

The obvious choice has to be the Borussia Dortmund star. Reus is said to be keen on one day playing in the Premier Leagueand he would fit in perfectly with the style of play at The Emirates and have German friends amongst the squad.

£34 million should be enough to lure Dortmund into a sale, well around that amount, and Reus certainly brings more to the party then Walcott.

Thomas Muller

Another German, I know, how uninventive.

But the Bayern Munich player - who can play out wide or through the middle- has admitted a desire to one day play in England at some point in his career.

Could it be at The Emirates?

Sidney Sam

Another German, I know but this one really is a good option. Currently the darling of the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen’s Nigerian born winger would cost a lot less than £34 million - leaving some change in the kitty jar.

But he would be a magnificent addition.

Yevhen Konoplyanka

Why nobody has tried to snap this guy up from Dnipro in his Ukrainian homeland is a mystery to me.

Prefers playing on the left but equally good on each side, he has always impressed with his nation and just needs a chance in a big league.

Dnipro are loaded, so he won’t come cheap. But he could be an excellent acquisition.

Mathieu Valbuena

Another who would not cost much, and never seems to have a bad game.

The diminutive wide-man could be a cost effective replacement, leaving change to improve the squad elsewhere.
