Bayern Munich signs Barcelona and Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara

Manchester United have missed out to Bayern Munich in the signing of Barcelona and Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The U21 European Championship best player ignored the Red Devils to link up with former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola in a deal believed to be worth £22 million. Thiago will sign a four-year deal and undergo medicals in coming days. The deal also will see Barcelona and Bayern Munich play a friendly in the next four years. Bayern confirmed the transfer with a statement on their website which read: “The Spanish midfielder will travel in the coming days to Munich to attend a medical examination and signing a four- year contract until June 2017.” Bayern Munich chairman Karl- Heinz Rummenigge added: “Thiago Alcantara was the great desire of our new coach Pep Guardiola. We are pleased that we succeeded in this great transfer. “Thiago has only just been elected the best player of the U21 European Championship. He is a fantastic player with a great perspective which will strengthen Bayern.”
