Local boxing hero, Emmanuel 'Game Boy' Tagoe sees his victory over
Mexican Geraldo Robbles as a stepping stone to annexing the world title
in the coming months.
He told the Graphic Sports on arrival last Tuesday from
the United States of America that he was due to fight for a world title
in Puerto Rico and was heading straight to the gym to start preparations
towards the bout.
Last week, Tagoe who is being managed by
the Baby Jets Promotions knocked out Robbles in his first bout in
America but praised his Mexicans opponent saying Mexicans have always
been tough customers and the victory did not come easy.
Tagoe
said the victory puts him in a better position to replicate the enviable
feats chalked up by boxing greats such as Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey
and Joshua Clottey at the international level.
Despite winning
the bout, the Bukom-based boxer was denied the belt after the fight on
grounds that he weighed more than the stipulated weight limit.
But Tagoe did not appear disturbed on arrival saying he had won more belts in boxing.
