Tickets for Ghana-Egypt qualifier sold out

Tickets printed for the Ghana-Egypt 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier are sold out five days to the game, the GNA Sports has gathered.

In all, about 34, 000 tickets were printed for the match slated for Tuesday, October 15 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, with Kumasi, the match venue being allocated 25, 000.

Joseph Yameen, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, said about 5,000 of the tickets were also made available for sale in Accra while some were allocated to Obuasi, the Brong-Ahafo Region and other parts of the country.

“As of now, we have fewer tickets available for sale”, he told the GNA Sports in Kumasi, adding that arrangements for the advance ticket sale had traveled without hitch.

A visit by the GNA Sports to some of the sales points on Thursday saw long queues, as football fans were desperate to buy tickets in spite of the shortage.

On security, Yameen assured that the Ministry and other stakeholders had stepped up efforts to ensure sanity before, during and after the encounter.

Also on hand would be a team of medical personnel, paramedics and firefighters.

Some 40, 000 spectators, including about 800 Egyptian supporters are expected to throng the Stadium for the match.
