Arsene Wenger has dropped his biggest hint yet that he intends to try and sign Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.
According to the Daily Star, Wenger was unreserved in his praise for the Brazilian forward, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Arsenal since the end of the summer transfer window.
Costa has been in sensational goal-scoring form for high-flying Atletico this season, and has also been rumoured to be the subject of interest from Chelsea and Liverpool
And Arsene Wenger did little to play down speculation linking the 25-year-old with the Emirates.
The Frenchman revealed his admiration for Costa, and described the forward as a real talent.
"He had already grabbed my attention last year through his determination, his strength to move forward," Wenger said
"He also possesses technical quality and a cool head when carrying out his finishing touches.
"For a long time, he was loaned out because he couldn't find his place. But over the last two seasons he has really moved up a notch.
"The departure of [Radamel] Falcao has given him space. The team plays for him and we can see all the talent he possesses.
"There is something animal in his determination, in his hunger. You can feel that he is a player who, before arriving at a very high level, has fed his thirst and his hunger."
Wenger is said to be in the market for a striker who can either partner or provide cover for Olivier Giroud, who remains Arsenal's only recognised goal-scorer.
The Arsenal boss is believed to be willing to pay whatever Atletico ask for their star man, with a reported £30million being the price
