Djurgardens IF defender Daniel Amartey has gone on record to confirm that he is holding talks with Merseyside club Liverpool over the prospect of a transfer in the not too distant future.
The 18 year old was quoted in The Metro, saying: “I have been in contact with the Liverpool management. I hope we can sort a transfer out – it’s a great club to play for.”
Amartey attracted the attention of Liverpool scouts with his impressive performances for his club in the Swedish Allsvenskan and for the Ghanaian Under-20 team. After learning about the player’s talent, manager Brendan Rodgers also gave the go-ahead for talks with the representatives of the 18 year old and it is believed that an offer of about £1.5m has been tabled by Liverpool.
However, the Premier League side may face problems in obtaining a work permit for Amartey as early as January as the player is not yet a member of the Ghanaian national team. That could in turn mean that Djurgarden may have the option of keeping the player with them on loan till his work permit issues are resolved.
The 18 year old can play as a central defender as well as in a defensive midfield role and is currently an integral part of the Djurgardens first team.
