Finnish side FC Honka have sealed a two-year permanent deal for on-loan Asante Kotoko defender Gideon Baah.
The
21-year old left-back joined the Veikkausliiga club on a free loan
which was sanctioned to last between April 4 and October 31, 2013 but
after 3 months at the club, he has made such a significant improvement
leading to the club deciding to get his permanent signature.
Baah
has been selected in 'Team of the Month' for 3 consecutive months and
was named in the top 5 players of the Veikkausliiga after the first
round. He has also been awarded 'Man of the Match' on a number of
occasions.
“I am very happy to have signed a 2 year contract with
FC Honka because I have been working really hard for it. I have been
here for about 4 months now and have had a regular spot in the team. I
feel more relaxed since I signed and can concentrate on my game. When
your career is in limbo it can be quite unsettling. I hope my fans in
Ghana understand my decision and will pray for me and support me as I
strive to move forward,” Baah said about his decision to stay at Honka.
In confirming the news, his agent believes the former TV soccer Reality Show winner has been settling well at the club.
“The
president of Honka expressed their interest in a permanent move, I
spoke with Kotoko and negotiations commenced. An agreement was reached
after a few weeks of discussions and the rest, they say, is history.”
“It's
all been very exciting. Gideon is now an FC Honka player and has been
getting his feet well under the table. He has even managed to find a
Ghanaian market in Helsinki where he stocks up on local Ghanaian food,”
she said.
FC Honka currently lies top of the Finnish League table and is in a very strong position to win the league this season.
