Swiss side FC Sion has signed on Ghana U-20 striker Ebenezer Assifuah on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The Black Satellites player penned his contract last Thursday
after agreeing terms with the Stade Tourbillon outfit, coupled with the
blessing of his mother club, Liberty Professionals.
A
statement on the club’s website said “FC Sion announces the transfer of
Ghana U-20 striker Ebenezer Assifuah. “The player has signed a five-year
contract tying him to the club. The player should get his qualification
for the championship in the coming hours,” the club said.
Assifuah earned global recognition thanks to his goal scoring prowess at the recent FIFA U-20 World in Turkey, where he won the Golden Boot with six goals. The Black Satellites won bronze at the championship.
He
was a target of many clubs, but settled for FC Sion due to the club’s
record of serving as a breeding ground for several young African
players.
The forward joined Liberty Professionals last season from second-tier outfit, Eleven Wise.
