Chelsea have agreed a transfer fee to sign Anzhi Makhachkala’s player
Willian. The deal is subject to a work permit hearing on Wednesday.
Tottenham Hotspur were close to signing the Brazillian midfielder but
Jose Mourinho confirmed on Friday that Willian had changed his mind and
chosen Stamford Bridge as his destination instead.
Jose Mourinho said at his press conference on Friday when asked about the Willian deal:
“I don’t like to speak before time, because football can betray you.
This is a problem when we speak a lot about transfers and names, because
sometimes it looks a player is and he isn’t, but I know what the player
wants so at this moment we cannot hide that it is a possibility.”
A Chelsea statement read on Sunday:
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with
both Willian and his club Anzhi Makhachkala for the transfer of the
Brazilian player.
“The transfer is subject to a work permit hearing on Wednesday.”
