Rabiu agrees deal to move to Russia

Ghana midfielder Mohammed Rabiu has agreed a deal to join Russian side Kuban Krasnodar, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal. The 23-year-old will arrive in Russia early next week for a medical before sealing the deal.

He will sign a three-year contract, a source close to the player has told Ghana's leading football news outlet.

His French top-flight club Evian have agreed € 3M move for the hard-tackling midfielder.

Rabiu arrived in France on Thursday afternoon after playing for Ghana in a friendly match against Turkey and has started preparations to leave the club. The decision by the midfielder to move to Russia has ended the chase for the signature of the influential player who was being pursued by several clubs in Europe.

English sides Fulham and Hull City as well as Portuguese club Benfica and Greek giants Olympiakos who were all keen on signing the player.

Part of the Ghana side that won the 2009 FIFA Under 20 World Cup, Rabiu has caps for the senior side.

He was also a part of the Evian team that won the French second division title in 2010-2011 while on loan from Italian side Udinese, which was sufficient to earn him a permanent deal.
