Familia programme for 47 of the 48 group stage matches(again apart from
the opening match,which costs BRL 80 in category 4)In total,about 3
million tickets will be available for fans to purchase during the three
sales phases.
After the blockbuster FIFA Confederations Cup, expectations for
ticket sales for the FIFA World Cup are naturally high, but Thierry Weil
FIFA’s Director of Marketing explains the peculiarities of the
process.
“Speaking about predictions and expectations for sales is
always complicated”.
He further explains that ticket sales will be rapid.
“Personally, I imagine we will face demand similar to that seen in
Germany in 2006, when there were, on average, seven applicants for each
ticket,” he said. “But each situation is very specific. In South Africa
in 2010, for instance, we sold 1.9 million tickets but the bulk of those
were sold during the tournament, just before games, as culturally
that’s how tickets are bought there.”
