Bafana Bafana to lock horns with Morocco in friendly

The two countries have failed to reach the final round of the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, and therefore will be preparing for the 2015 Afcon tournament in Morocco. South African Football Association (Safa)

has officially confirmed that Bafana Bafana’s next international friendly will be against Morocco on October 11.

Both Morocco and Bafana have failed to qualify for the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, and this game will be used to improve their Fifa rankings and possibly assess new players.

Bafana are ranked 68th on the latest Fifa rankings while Morocco are currently ranked 76th, but it is expected to be a difficult game for the South Africans away from home.

According to the arrangements confirmed by the association, the return leg between the two countries will be played in South Africa sometime next year.

Having failed to win the 2004 Afcon tournament in Tunisia after reaching the final, Morocco will be hoping to claim their first piece of silverware when they host the 2015 Afcon tournament.
