Former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano insists he is happy at Barcelona amid strong interest from Napoli.
Rafa Benitez, the current Napoli boss, is a big fan of the 29-year-old, who signed for Liverpool in 2007 during the Spaniard's time in the Anfield dugout.
Napoli are on the hunt for a new midfielder ahead of the January transfer window and Mascherano is believed to top their shortlist.
The former West Ham anchorman has previously spoken of his admiration for Benitez, heightening suggestions he will reunite with Benitez in Naples.
But, after revealing he nearly followed the manager from Liverpool to Inter Milan in 2010, Mascherano stressed his contentment with life at the Nou Camp.
He told Argentine magazine El Grafico: "Before I moved to Barcelona I was close to joining Benitez at Inter. My approach to [reported interest from] Napoli? Now I am happy at Barca."
